1.5T micro-MRI of macrophages in obesity-associated inflammation: feasibility study

چکیده
Rational and objectives Obesity-associated inflammation plays a critical role in the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Increased adipose inflammation is associated with the recruitment of pro-inflammatory macrophages. Our aim was to determine if macrophage imaging using Magnetic Resonance microscopy following systemic injection of a new kind of iron-oxide nanoparticles (P904 developed by Guerbet Research) could enable in vivo detection of adipose inflammation in a murine model of obesity.

The Role of Inflammation and Changes of Adipose Tissue-Resident Immune Cells in Increasing the Risk of Cancer: A Narrative Review
The incidence of obesity, as a major health problem, has increased significantly over the past decades. This condition is associated with an increased risk of cancers, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. The current study aimed to investigate the effects of inflammation and changes of adipose tissue-resident immune cells on increasing the risk of cancer in obese individuals. In obesit...

BACKGROUND Alveolar macrophages, with their high functional plasticity, were reported to orchestrate the induction and resolution of inflammatory processes in chronic pulmonary diseases. Noninvasive imaging modalities that offer simultaneous monitoring of inflammation progression and tracking of macrophages subpopulations involved in the inflammatory cascade, can provide an ideal and specific d...
متن کاملSuppression of severe airway inflammation with non-toxic dietary nutrients in histamine-challenged guinea pigs: A comparison with Ibuprofen
We hypothesize that selected combinations of nutrients commonly encountered in the human diet, suppress asthma-associated airway inflammation more effectively than currently available anti-inflammatory medications. Here we demonstrate that biflavones and terpenes, distributed widely in human diet (in this case derived from Ginkgo biloba) synergize with the carotenoid antioxidant astaxanthin and...

متن کاملNanoparticle-Based Magnetic Resonance Imaging on Tumor-Associated Macrophages and Inflammation
The inflammatory response, mediated by tissue-resident or newly recruited macrophages, is an underlying pathophysiological condition for many diseases, including diabetes, obesity, neurodegeneration, atherosclerosis, and cancer. Paradoxically, inflammation is a double-edged sword in oncology. Macrophages are, generally speaking, the major drivers of inflammatory insult. For many solid tumors, h...
